Busy as Bees.....

A Busy Bee group met here yesterday and all I took a picture of was this sweet Bee pincushion loaded with pins.  Isn't it just great!!  The pincushion is all of 3" squared and just full to the brim.   A full room of ladies with lots of projects being worked on...................busy as little bees................
I didn't have much time for quilting yesterday since I had class and then a doctor's appointment, but I did get all the pieces squared up and placed on planning board (thanks Stacey!!)......just waiting to be stitched together.  Hopefully I might find some time tonight to do a little sewing, after my haircut this afternoon!  Can't miss that!!

Find a little stitching time........................

Just Piecing......

Working on lots of little squares today to turn them into half-square triangles.  I love this group of fabrics that came in a kit I ordered at Christmas time.  Have no idea what the line is but they are right up my alley!
I'm going to make the table runner pictured here.  Red, white and blue of course!!
I got my Underground Railroad top put together yesterday.  Love the reds, browns and blacks together.  I am now auditioning fabrics for the outer border.  I about drove my husband crazy yesterday calling him in to look at different fabrics.  He definitely had an opinion but after awhile I think I wore him down and he told me to just pick what I liked!
This is the fabric my husband liked for the outer border........
and this is the fabric that I liked.  Stars of course!  He thought my fabric was too bright but I don't think so.  His fabric was a little more subdued shade of red I suppose.  Any opinions out there?  I have also tried several browns, browns with red, golds, different reds and keep coming back to these two.

Hope you find a little time for some stitching today.

Where's Spring??

I went into the bathroom one morning this week and this guy was sitting there looking at me.  Our screened in porch roof is right outside the bathroom and birds love to come and sit on the peak of that roof.  He stayed there long enough for me to go get the camera, open the screen and window.  I figured as soon as I opened the window he would fly away, but he patiently waited for me to get his picture.  We've seen lots of big fat robins the past few weeks so I do believe spring is trying to get here.  We are way behind in temperatures but as we all know, you can't mess with Mother Nature!!
I had a muffin tin pincushion class this week and did remember to snap a few pictures of the ladies as they worked.  I never seem to remember the camera lately.  Even though there are no photos, we have been pretty busy around here with lots of classes and creative women.  I loved the color of Joan's flower in contrast to the pastel M&M's in the background!!
Jeannie is working hard to get this "muffin" tied off.  That is probably the hardest part of the whole process.
Joan chose to applique several of her "muffins".  It's going to be gorgeous!
Now, another "food" comparison.  Look how pretty Joyce's muffins matched her colorful goldfish.  I guess these are truly her favorite colors!!
Ta-da!!!  I think Kitty is looking at those birdies wondering how he can jump over there!!!!
It turned out great Joyce.  Love the colors.
I finished the last two blocks of my Underground Railroad sampler last night.  I got the strips and cornerstones cut out this morning and all laid out.  So guess what I will be working on today?  Getting all those pieces sewn together and finished!!!  That's my goal and I'm sticking to it.  We were supposed to have stitchery club here today, but with the rain and cold temperatures that was forecasted, I decided to cancel the class and let everyone stay home in their jammies!  So I'll be in my jammies putting together my blocks.

Hope you're finding something fun to work on this dreary rainy day!

Where does the time go......

Well, here I go again apologizing for not updating the blog.  I'm afraid life just gets in the way sometimes, or not necessarily in the way but takes priority.  And of course, I get so busy with classes and grandchildren and stitching and quilting and creating.........you get the picture.
A good friend inherited these blocks from her mother and wanted to do someting with them.  I suggested she tone the colors down a bit, which she did and then simply sashed with a brown/plaid homespun.  She now has purchased some other fabrics to add borders to make the quilt top grow.  I think it's going to turn out great and what a classic!
You never know who might show up around my house!!!  Usually lovely ladies coming for classes but one day the HULK stopped by.  Grrrrrrr............
We were watching Joshua one day last week and I walked into the living room and there was Poppy in his recliner and Joshua in his rocking chair (snack in hand) watching the basketball game together.  I ran for the camera, too precious not to get a picture!
I almost got a smile from Joshua.  He sure doesn't pose like the girls did and still do!  Look at all those teeth.  He's 18 months so I guess that's normal.  I can't remember!!!
Reagan was in a play this weekend - Fun on 42nd Street.  This is Reagan posing after the play.  Say cheese!!
Reagan with one of her castmates.  They were all so good in the play and the costumes were adorable.
This is a quilt piece that I'm working on right now.  The flying geese strips are very old (from the 30's probably) that I've had for some time.  I finally found some fabric to use as strips and will hopefully have a couple of projects finished from the strips.  I am trying so hard to finish up some things that have been laying around for awhile.

Happy stitching.........................

Happy Birthday.....

to me!!  Yes, it was my birthday on February 28 and I am one lucky gal.  I think we celebrated most of last week.  I was surprised with a birthday luncheon on Tuesday, another birthday luncheon on Thursday, a birthday dinner on Thursday evening and a another birthiday dinner prepared by my granddaughter and her Daddy on Friday evening.   My gals showered me with wonderful birthday gifts and cards (thank you all so much!!!) and I received lots of emails and phone calls and even a gift or two in the mail.  What I'm trying to get at here is that I am one blessed person and I truly appreciate each and every one of you remembering me on my "special" day.  I can't thank you all enough for making a difficult week (my Mom's birthday was Feb. 26 and I was truly missing her) into a joyful time of celebration.  I sure don't like getting older but by golly, it's going to happen no matter what so we may as well have fun doing it!!!  So thank you for making me feel so special.
Oh no, it's not my birthday AGAIN!!!!

Look at this pretty birthday dessert.  It was delicious and yes, I'm only one year old!!

And no, I'm not 62 years old.  This was the delicious cake my son and granddaughter baked and these were the only candles they could muster up so we went with it.  I thought at one time the candles said I was 26 years old.  Oh well............somewhere inbetween.

And believe it or not, there was a third cake which I didn't get a picture of.  My favorite German Chocolate.....thank you Stacey!!

Hope whenever your birthday is you have family and friends to make you feel special.  We all deserve a little pampering on our birthdays!
