What a busy day. My girls spent the afternoon with me today. That means I don't get much done but have a great time with the girls. After catching up on a couple of their favorite TV shows, we eventually moved our tables out to the front porch since it wasn't as humid today to get some fresh air and do a little coloring and stitching. The girls played pretend shopping when they first got outside pushing around a wooden wheelbarrow and plucked leaves and flowers as they went around the yard. After awhile, they tired of shopping and ended up at their respective tables for a little art time.
Raleigh seemed to enjoy playing with her bubblegum more than she did her coloring. We love to spend time on the porches but it seems our summers are so hot and humid that we don't get to enjoy them as much. So when a rare less humid summer day happens, you have to jump at the chance to enjoy it. My girls seem to be afraid of bugs and had quite a few screaming episodes when some poor bug flew into their territory. I told them they were going to scare the bugs away just with their screaming. Or else some neighbor was going to call the police because they were making so much noise! We had the perfect ending to our day by celebrating with popsicles. Nothing like a popsicle on a hot summer day! As the saying goes, always have popsicles at Grandma's house!

Just came in from the garden with a beautiful bounty of cucumbers and our first tomatoes. I long for summer each year for one and only one thing, home grown tomatoes. There is nothing better than a fresh garden tomato sandwich, throw in a little bacon and lettuce and the sandwich becomes a real treat. But just a plain garden tomato, sliced and sprinkled with a little salt is heaven to me. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
I always thought if I had a blog I would write about fun stuff like new pattern designs, and stitcheries and my grandchildren, but no, I have to write about holes in my walls. I went to teach a class last night and when I got home the hole was even bigger. My husband had the night off from his umpiring job and he decided to go ahead and cut away more of the wet ceiling and get all the wet insulation out so the thing could start drying. What a mess we have. So I guess now we're in the drying phase before we can have it repaired. I have several classes scheduled at my house in July so I hope it's fixed by then. Guess I could always draw something to cover it up! Or maybe add a little stained glass, except there's no light coming through. My granddaughters love to draw and I just know they would provide me with all kinds of art work to hang from the ceiling! Let's just hope it's fixed by then.

Can't Believe I Did It!!

Well, I've finally decided to join the world of blogging. Not sure how much time and/or energy I will extend to this new adventure, but my friend Debbie tells me I need to have a blog. So here goes. There have been many times that I've been in the middle of a project or the grandkids did something so adorable that I thought, hey, wouldn't that be a great story or picture to put on a blog. So guess I should have had one all along but didn't know it. In any event, let's just see how this goes.
